Earth Direct Cremation offers an essential service cremation package and a range of eco-memorialisation offerings available only via the online portal. Payment must be made prior to services being provided. If a death has occurred, the legal next of kin must sign the required authorisation forms required by law.

Identification

You may be asked to identify the deceased through our online identification process including receipt of a photo. By checking these terms, you agree that only the legal next of kin, or an authorised person, will identify the deceased if required. Earth Direct Cremation may also collect multiple fingerprints of the deceased for additional identification.

Death Certificate

The death will be registered as required under law using information provided by the Client, and a copy of the official Death Certificate will be sent to the Client once processed by the Births, Death and Marriages authority. 

Privacy Collection Statement

Sustainable Funerals Australia Inc. (trading as Earth Direct Cremations) is committed to complying with applicable privacy laws in relation to the personal information we collect in the course of running our business. Where applicable privacy laws provide for exceptions or exemptions, we may rely on those exceptions or exemptions in our information handling practices.

We will collect and hold your personal information in a fair and lawful manner and not in an intrusive way. Where it is reasonably practical to do so, we will collect your personal information directly from you. Generally, we will collect your personal information from you directly when you make an inquiry in relation to our services, including through our website located at: www.earthdirectcremation.org. We may also collect your personal information from a family member or friend who has contacted us.

The primary purpose for which we collect personal information is to provide our services, such as funeral services and end-of-life rituals.

If we do not collect your personal information, the main consequence is that we may not be able to provide our services to you (or your family member or friend).

We do not usually disclose your personal information to other entities unless it is necessary to provide you with our services or you have requested or authorised us to disclose the information to another entity. For example, we may disclose your personal information to relevant government bodies (such as bodies that provide death certificates) or any of our third-party subcontractors.

We do not generally disclose personal information to entities located overseas. However, some of our subcontractors are located in the United States.

Shipping Policy

It is our policy to mail cremated remains in a container suitable for shipping. If requested by the Client, we mail cremated remains by Australia Post services that provide registration and tracking capability. See the offering pages on this site for further details about delivery and/or memorialisation options.

Authorisation & Payment 

‘Authorisation and Payment’ is a feature on our website that allows you to make arrangements from our site without creating or using an account. While using Authorisation and Payment, you will be required to enter the following information: First and last name, billing address, telephone number, credit card information and an email address where we can send all necessary notifications. This information will not be saved on our site, and you will have to re-enter it every time you use Authorisation and Payment.
